Very mixed thoughts in Labyrinth. The restaurant is exactly as advertised - chefs take on Singapore food - however I didn’t think it was necessary better than hawker stalls (especially if you consider the price). The other thing with the menu is it switched between hot and cold dishes too often (cold as in frozen). For example, the salad was cold, then the frog pie was hot, then the chili crab was partially cold, then switched to hot prawn mee, then the fish was even cold (I think the sauce not the fish itself)…. And so forth.
It’s so apt that this 1 Michelin starred restaurant is located within the Esplanade — Singapore’s National performing art centre.
Having dinner here is like being treated to the whole Singaporean experience… not only showcasing the cuisine, but our culture and way of life. Will not spoil the surprise for u, but they go all out with the props here!
If u are visiting Singapore, I highly recommend this dining experience, which is not only delicious but highly-entertaining! We left the restaurant with our bellies full and very happy.
Locals may balk at the high price we are paying for local favourites, but I think the creativity and presentation is worth a visit.

A truly fantastic dining experience which beats some of the ‘higher star’ restaurants in Singapore (from a flavour and cuisine creativity perspective) quite comfortably in my view. Labyrinth’s rise in recent Asia Best 50 rankings is well justified.
The dishes are a tribute to some of the classic Singaporean flavours and the menu does justice to the various inspirations (hawker food, old SG restaurants). The starting course (Roti Jon, Otah, Satay) set the tone and it just kept getting better. Every main course item from Chili crab to Prawn Noodle Soup to the Sizzling Plate Steak was exquisite. Among the dessert dishes, the Orh Nee preparation was fantastic.
For drinks, I did not go with the wine pairing and just ordered a few cocktails. Average cocktails and nothing exemplary.
A 200% recommendation for all SG residents and visitors
Crazy off the hook amazing experience at Labyrinth Restaurant. Singapore is blessed with so many incredible places to eat and Labyrinth is right at the top. The food is impeccable in terms of flavour and presentation, the service is on point and close to perfection, but it is the story and creativity that is infused through the entire dinning experience that transcends the gastronomic journey. I loved every minute and can’t wait to go back for more. I now know why Labyrinth is #11 on the best Asian restaurant list for 2023, was awarded the highest climber award in 2023, and have 1 Michelin star.
Don’t even know where to start here aside from saying that this is easily one of the best fine dining experiences I’ve ever had. The quality of food was there for sure but it was the sheer level of creativity and theatre that transformed this meal into an actual experience. I won’t spoil too much - you really have to come here for yourself to witness it in person.
Even though we received the menu at the start of the meal, I found myself looking forward to every dish that was coming up. There was always an element of surprise with every dish - it could be a surprise component that was revealed only as you dig into the dish, or an element that is not what it appears as.
This was really brought to life by the waitstaff who were all incredibly friendly, created open conversation with all of us - and even encouraged us not to be “intimidated” by the fine dining experience but to enjoy it as a meal among friends. From start to finish this entire meal was a joy, and even though I don’t live in Singapore, I would gladly come back year after year to experience this again.
As for the food - I’ll let the photos speak for me. But safe to say it was on a whole new level of delicious. Yes it may be expensive, but it is worth every cent.
Fusion Singaporean food with Japanese ingredients. Theme is old time and comfort singapore adapted to the new and exotic components like toro truffles and Caviar. Pretty good experience and the server is very polite and delivers excellent service. A bit too long between courses and the seat is not that comfortable.
Creative spin to local dishes, knowledgeable staff. Definitely an experience not to be missed!
Although I’d have preferred lesser influence from Japan, got confusing for a bit when dishes tasted like it’s from Japan instead of Singapore.
Overall a great experience and highly recommend!
This restaurant, chosen as Asia’s Top 50 best restaurants for 4 consecutive years, showcases local Singaporean flavours encapsulating the chef’s childhood memories. Each dish was so cute, especially the pie which reminded me of McDonald’s apple pie. This was my last day in Singapore, and I basically got to try all the classic dishes (with a funky twist), including Hainanese chicken rice, laksa, chili crab, and kaya toast 😋. For dessert, they shaved ice right in front of us with this cute old fashioned machine!
